Dow's Vintage Port 1970
It's rare to find a well-aged, highly regarded port for less than $200, but Dow's Vintage Port 1970 fits the bill. This port is perfectly balanced between sweet, fruity flavors and notes of spice and perfume. On the nose, you'll find lots of fertile soil, underbrush, and gamey aromas that are joined by dried plum, orange peel, and dark chocolate. The palate is equally complex, showing off flavors of spice, plum, cherry, and raisin. Though this may seem like a port with almost too much character, if you enjoy puzzling out richly complex wines, this is an excellent choice.
