Quinta Do Noval Vintage '11
2011 may have been a tremulous year for the winemakers at Quinta Do Noval, but gambling to leave the grapes on the vines for an extra week paid off, making this one of the best vintages in recent history. In fact, professional critics have showered praise on this porto, giving it scores between 93 and 97 points. This porto is floral, earthy, and sweet, with violet, blackberry, and smoke on the nose, and ripe berries, currants, and figs on the palate. The finish is long, with notes of minerality and lots of well-structured tannins. Though it's approachable now, it will be even better after 10 or more years in the wine cellar.
